Juan Carlos Lentijo (Pedrosa del Rey, Valladolid, 1959) is an industrial engineer from La Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. He completed his training in nuclear safety and radiological protection at international and national institutions, such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Belgian Nuclear Applications Research Center (SCK-CEN), the Center for Energy and Environmental Research (CIEMAT ) and TECNATOM; and in the field of business administration at the Instituto de Empresa (IE).

In 1982, he began his professional activity as a nuclear project engineer at Empresarios Agrupados. In 1984 he joined the Spanish Nuclear Safety Council (CSN), where he held the positions of Nuclear Power Plant Project Manager, Resident Inspector, Deputy Director General of Emergencies, Deputy Director General of Environmental Radiological Protection and Technical Director of Radiological Protection. After a career spanning 28 years at the CSN, he joined the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna in 2012, first as Director of the Waste Cycle Facilities and Technology Division and, since October 2015, as the IAEA Deputy Director General and head of its Department of Nuclear Safety. After completing the usual period of his position at the IAEA, he returned to the Spanish Nuclear Safety Council in June 2021, where he served as Technical Director of Nuclear Safety from December 2021 to April 2022, before being appointed as president of the regulatory body.

In 2017 he was awarded by the Official College of Industrial Engineers of Madrid with the "Honorable Mention for Industrial Engineer of the Year". That same year, the Spanish Nuclear Society awarded him the "Carlos Sánchez del Río" award, in recognition of his contribution to the peaceful uses of nuclear energy. In addition, the newspaper El País selected Juan Carlos Lentijo as one of the 100 protagonists of the Ibero-American world in 2013, in the category of researchers and pioneers.

Born in Lérida in 1962, he is a Doctor of Industrial Engineering. Professor of Nuclear Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, from where he has coordinated the nuclear engineering research group, he has been vice president of the European Nuclear Education Network (ENEN) from 2013 to 2016.

He has participated and has been an evaluator in different R&D projects in Spain and the European Community in the field of nuclear engineering. He is the author of more than 240 publications and numerous articles published in international journals such as Nuclear Science and Technology, Journal of Nuclear Materials, Radiation Protection Dosimetry, SNE, etc. on nuclear engineering and has directed 15 doctoral theses on the subject.

He is also the author of the educational module “Multimedia of the Physics of Nuclear Reactors”, distributed to more than 126 countries, and translated into six languages.

Between 2004 and 2005 he was secretary of the Argos Chair in Nuclear Safety sponsored by the Nuclear Safety Council, and Deputy Director of the Higher Technical School of Industrial Engineering of Barcelona from 1995 to 2002. He has collaborated in 13 missions of the International Atomic Energy Organization (IAEA) for different countries such as Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Austria, China, the United States or Vietnam, among others
 

Francisco Castejón Magaña was born in Munébrega (Zaragoza) in 1961. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the Complutense University of Madrid. From 1986 to the present, he was a Fusion researcher at the CIEMAT National Fusion Laboratory. He also worked in Cadarache (France, 1988) and Kharkov (Ukraine, 1992).

Castejón has participated in many international expert groups and has led numerous national and international research projects, including FP7 and H2020. He was director of the Fusion Theory Unit of the National Fusion Laboratory and leader of the EUROFUSION Stellarator Theory and Development Project between 2014 and 2018.

Castejón has also worked on scientific dissemination and citizen science projects such as Zivis and Ibercivis, in whose creation he was representing CIEMAT. He was a member of the Advisory Committee on Public Participation and Transparency of the CSN from its creation until 2019.

Pilar Lucio Carrasco was born in Plasencia (Cáceres) in 1972. She holds a degree in Political Science and Sociology from the Complutense University of Madrid, a Master's Degree in Strategic Consulting of Organizations and Postgraduate Studies in Governance and Public Administration.

She has been a Member of the Spanish Parliament during the last three legislatures, Federal Secretary for Climate Change and Sustainability of the Socialist Party, Spokesperson for Environment, Spokesperson for Energy and Rapporteur at the Congressional Commission on Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection between 2016 and 2019.

Lucio was also a Tutor Professor at the National Distance Education University, Director of European projects for business, local and human resources development in the region of Extremadura and Director of the European initiative projects Youthstart, Equal I and Equal II.

Born in Utrera (Seville) in 1975, she is a medical specialist in Preventive Medicine and Public Health. Calzón holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Granada. Furthermore, she has a Master's degree in Public Health and Healthcare Management (University of Granada), a Master's degree in Health Economics and Medicines (Pompeu Fabra University), and a Diploma of Specialization in Gender and Health (University of Granada-Andalusian School of Public Health).

She served as Secretary of State for Health (August 2020 - November 2023), strategically and operationally coordinating the COVID-19 vaccination campaign. She also promoted initiatives such as the Proton Therapy Implementation Plan in the National Health System (SNS) and the INVEAT plan. She has been the director of the Spanish State Agency for the Fight against Doping in Sport and the director of the Department of Citizen Attention and Response in the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government. In the field of healthcare management, she held the Managing Director position of the Southern Córdoba and Southern Seville Health Management Areas of the Andalusian Health Service.

She has teaching experience in postgraduate studies at the Universities of Seville and Granada and has participated in numerous research projects. She has been awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit.
